The truth about the ouija board

Hey whats up guys and welcome to a brand new video where we will be discussing the ouija board.

The funniest thing happens everytime I ask people their thoughts on the ouija board they legit freak out.  But why?  Why are people so afraid of a board game rated for people aged 8 years old and up.

Origins of the word

Charles Kennard (founder of Kennard Novelty Company which manufactured Fuld’s talking boards and where Fuld had worked as a varnisher) claimed he learned the name “Ouija” from using the board and that it was an ancient Egyptian wordmeaning “good luck.”

It became a trademark of parker bros and then later on by hasbro inc.  It was first introduced commercially in 1890 and became popularized during ww1 where it was believed the spirtiual world could communicate with the living and the ouija board was simply used to make it faster.

It is often regarded as basically straight up bullshit by the science community which says it’s really just unconcious movements by the user to control the pointer.  Interestingly enougoh this is called the ideometer effect.

The phrase is most commonly used in reference to the process whereby a thought or mental image brings about a seemingly “reflexive” or automatic muscular reaction, often of minuscule degree, and potentially outside of the awareness of the subject.

Origins of the ouija board or “talking boards” date back to 1100 Ad in believe it or not China where of course under special circumstances and permission would be used to communicate with the spirit world.  It was also often found in ancient india, Rome, Greece and medeival europe.  But the truth is no one really knows where the game came from?

While the history of the ouija board is incredibly fascinating we aren’t really here to figure out the past but really whether it works and why people are so afraid of it.

Many people seem to have this idea that a ouija board itself carries something with it.  Like carrying it around with you something bad might happen or that it carries the entity of some sort of demon or bad spirit.  Well if I told you I keep a ouija board in my car at all times you would probably think im nuts right?  Well in reality it’s a board game.  You can literally find it any store in the board game aisle.  The boards themselves even after they are used don’t really carry anything with them.  At least so were told. This is something we don’t really know for sure after the board is used.  Lets test it out.

It really wasn’t until the passed 50 some odd years that the ouija board became feared and considered a tool of the devil.  Mainly because of hit movie the excorcist.  Many people believe that evil demons seem to spawn from the board itself.  It’s used as basically a gateway into hell.  Which may or may not be true.

In my personal experience since I do paranormal videos which I may as well plug in here “exploring with angelo” is my other channel where I explore weird places, abandoned and of course paranormal, I have also experimented with the ouija board.  I have contacted family members and have gotten responses from them as well as contacting demons who literally wanted us to die.  We’ll get into all that and look a little deeper soon.

There are quite a few do’s and don’t’s with the ouija board and we really don’t have the time to go through them all but some are quite freaky.

For example, Zozo. If you encounter zozo on the board end the session immediately by saying goodbye.  I have encountered this demon in the past while visiting an abandoned insane asylum and let me tell you it was not something we wanted to get involved with.  I think the biggest mistake we made that night was restarting a new session where another demon decided to come through.  While it’s still quite mysterious I can definitely tell you that some weird shit went down over the next few days after that.

Another major rule is to treat it in sort of a professional manner.  Don’t treat it as a joke nor do you taunt or ask it when you are going to die.  Im not playing with you these are real rules of the ouija board.

A lot of videos online have also given me some good insight.  It is interesting to find videos of items being thrown at people. ……. Yeah holy shit.

You will find a lot of youtubers typically use the ouija board quite often.  A lot of the time unfortunately you will see them using it for views.  And yeah im definitely talking about Imjaystation but we’ll talk about that piece of shit in a whole other video.  The problem with youtubers is of course you have to make entertainging content so we don’t really know if they are telling the truth or not. You’ll often hear someone saying im not doing it which leads us back into science.

What I find very fascinating is the idea that it’s all in our heads.  Because this is something that no one really knows the answer to.

From the smithsonian:

Those types of questions include how much and what the non-conscious mind knows, how fast it can learn, how it remembers, even how it amuses itself, if it does. This opens up even more avenues of exploration—for example, if there are two or more systems of information processes, which system is more impacted by neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s? If it impacted the non-conscious earlier, Rensink hypothesizes, indications of the illness could show up in Ouija manipulation, possibly even before being detected in conscious thought.

While the scientists make a very good point and it may just be our minds doing all the work for us it still has not been proven whether true or not and may never be.

I have heard so many I guess you could call them horror stories about demonic possession, weirdly accurate answers and just other odd anomalies happening whille using the ouija board to be truly convinced that there is a real scientific answer.
